Israel has for the first time discovered tunnels running into Israeli territory from Lebanon, dug over a number of years by Lebanese militant Shiite group Hezbollah. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered a military operation – dubbed “Northern Shield” – to search for more tunnels; three have so far been found that are as sophisticated as those dug by Hamas. As the search continues, the Israeli army fears an escalation with Hezbollah.
