As climate change amplifies extreme weather episodes, farmers and growers in France and beyond have struggled with long, difficult bouts of drought. As part of France 24’s climate series, we talk to Philippe Ouaki di Giorno, a French horticulturalist who has invented highly absorbent granules he calls polyter that capture and store moisture so that only five percent of the water is lost during watering. This technology, says Ouaki di Giorno, could help battle deforestation and drought. France 24’s Catherine Norris-Trent and Sylvain Rousseau report.
