This week a British court is due to deliver a verdict in the murder of Sophie Lionnet, a 21-year-old French au pair allegedly tortured and killed by her host parents in London. The case has sparked debate about the exploitation of au pairs across Europe. While the case of Lionnet is extreme, there are numerous examples of young people feeling isolated, unaware of their rights, and open to abuse.
